TEACHING AND LEARNING
in an
INTERCULTURAL CLASSROOM

Welcome to my blog!

I believe that building positive and meaningful relationships with my students and their families creates a sense of belonging and a strong classroom community.  As a culturally responsive teacher,  I plan to inspire, motivate and educate children in a creative, collaborative and flexible learning environment.

I am learning how to support student identity by inviting culture, language, and experiences into my classroom, where students can explore and discover more about themselves and others.  My goal is to provide students with opportunities to learn and grow physically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally in a classroom that embraces and values students of diverse and multicultural backgrounds.

I am on a quest to acquire the knowledge and skills to create a classroom that looks at education through a multicultural lens.  I want to become an advocate for my students by being a culturally informed educator.   I feel that this begins with  developing long lasting relationships to build stronger classroom communities and where multicultural students and their families feel safe and welcome.

Follow me on a journey to discovering how we can create equitable, diverse, and inclusive learning environments for all students.  We will begin by recognizing the unique qualities children bring to the classroom  and how celebrating differences benefits the invitation of culture into a learning environment.

As you move through this site you will have opportunities to reflect and add some valuable resources to your teacher toolbox.

STAY TUNED...

I am working on creating a place where teachers can share learning experiences, techniques, and strategies to have conversations about what is working, not working, or things to improve in our diverse classrooms .

Watch for upcoming webinars and workshops!
