Philosophies

My teaching philosophy....

  • Student Led and Teacher Facilitated instruction strategies create optimal learning opportunities for ELL students.

  • Hands-on and experiential learning supports the development of life skills and social responsibility.

  • This supports the social/emotional development of students as they become educated, kind, and respectful tiny humans.

My educational goal is to create a safe, welcoming, interactive, and engaging learning environment.

A combination of educational pedagogies is an ideal way to approach teaching and enhance learning for students. By recognizing the various learning styles and educational needs of your students, it will help guide instruction so students can acquire the knowledge and skills in an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment.

Behaviourism - focuses on making language automatic.

Cognitivism- the idea that we have a built in system in the brain to learn language.

Constructivism - students build pattern and language systems.

Mediationalism (Sociocultural) - raises the teacher and student consciousness during the teaching/learning process

using tools to make learning new language processes achievable.

Inclusive Pedagogy

Inclusive classrooms promote positive learning experiences. 

Ask yourself these important questions:

1. What are the child's strengths and needs?

2. What programs and practices are available to support the child in our school setting?

3. How can I collaborate to support the child's learning?

4. How can I position this child for success in my classroom?
