Supporting All Learners...

What are some key factors or characteristics to consider for specific groups of learners?

  • Background knowledge knowing where they come from (safe or unsafe country)

  • Ways to support ELLs  that focus on equity, inclusion, and intentional planning

  • Monitoring and assessment (UDL, Differentiated Instruction, Social/Emotional Supports)

  • Student participation

Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education Learners

(SLIFE)

SLIFE learners have limited and interrupted learning experiences, lack proficiency in English, and in most cases will not have acquired the same content knowledge of their ELL peers.  SLIFE students may have zero to limited literacy skills and their prior learning experiences are likely very different to what they are coming into.
